P è n i n ș o l a r drops Interrum, a leftfield electronic pendulum that slices through the genre range including subterranean glitch-techno, and a medley of articulated sonic effects.
Granular, muddy, and modular, “Under The Hanoi Monorail” is a symphony of clangs, bells, and disjointed bass rolled up in a simmering stew. Intelligent sound design morphed into electrical clicks and cuts, P è n i n ș o l a r encapsulates the early 00’s as he delves into the now. DSP-driven dynamics, odd tones and drones, wrapped in low-end percussion—as noted on “Iktsuarpok Nigh Fireside Crepitate (Extended Mix)”—is a mind altering piece that punctuates its rabid rhythm.
As Clean Error’s roster continues to evolve, their catalog is clearly an experimental electronic music melting pot. Interrum, as a result, accentuates a futuristic soundscape that still feels current and activated. If not for the Lexaunculpt shape-shifting turbulence of “The Beekeepers Boarding Area,” the album continues to push its own boundaries, and this track alone is worth the price of admission.
Interrum is available on Clean Error.
