Patch '1 degree C'

[Release page] Slivers of Scorn crossing wires with Meat Beat Manifesto’s ambient extracts may begin to come close to Patch‘s subterranean oeuvre. Somehow making its subdued entrance into dubtempo waters off the shores of Cartesian Binary‘s catalog back in July 2011, delicate glitch, clips and layered pulses of mysterious grooves has 1 Degree C floating through and bouncing out of underwater currents. Chilled on the surface, yet whispering its infectious warm rhythms, Patch definitely has a knack for the obscure. Where at times you may feel the contours of this nineteen-track synopsis of bass veering into dubstep terrain, the plugs are rewired and reinterpreted to give a soothing sense of calm in a lake of mass (analog) confusion. Sheathes of instrumental hip-hop, broken up by the sounds of distilled low frequency interruptions are carefully woven through atmospheric tones; a nod to early Witchman-era Explorimenting Beats wouldn’t be off-track either. As each piece contains its own signature sound, doused in thick layers of tumbling low-end, 1 Degree C fits comfortably with the collective styles of Ant-Zen and Ad Noiseam.

Weaving strains of downtempo percussion, tribal influences, subtle melancholy and an impacting discharge of amplified bass, 1 Degree C‘s climactic changes bring a well needed retreat from the norm and rests high on our digital shelves. Keep an ear/eye open for Patch’s forthcoming beatless full-length set to wash ashore in November 2011.

1 Degree C is out now on Cartesian Binary. [Release page]
