Light as a feather is a spellbound sonic creature with ten tentacles, each made of a different mixture, yet they all work together perfectly as an effective unit. Ocoeur intriguingly navigates through IDM, classical music, techno, downtempo, electroacoustic and ambient. The sound architecture is complex and dynamic yet highly accessible. Hectic but not abrasive, dreamy but not sleepy.
The electronically-driven tracks are vigorously mind boosting. At the forefront of the mischievous “Dream Pursuit” sonorous crisp beats go wild, while chiming motifs bounce and twist, and extraterrestrial synth showers percolate in and flicker. From behind a mesmeric pad whispers. “Astral Projection,” “Resonance” and “1.11” are filled with nocturnal frequencies that will intensify and spice up any late-night car cruising. Ghostly pads cast seductive shadows over clever, glitchy beat construction and strange effects. The vibe is deep and the motion is propulsive. The more acoustic sounding tracks on Light as a feather are quite cinematic and just as full of atmosphere and emotion. The enchanting “My Love” displays striking expressivity that cannot be taught.
