This latest installment in the Masa Series continues a theme the label has always been focused on; the dance-floor. Not Even Noticed certainly has this in mind when it comes to his tracks.
Music to lift spirits
Not Even Noticed. With releases on Gated Recordings, Eudemonia and an album on Nebulae, some may argue that this Frankfurt based artist is most definitely being noticed. An upcoming 12” on Spain’s Masa Series we undoubtedly turn more ears to the German’s brand of electronics.
A classic amen break and liquified acid line introduce “Transition.” Arcing strings sail overhead as a trance overtone descends in this joyous rave reflection. Darker currents arrive with the bruising bass of “Fear,” lancing beats piercing underlying anxieties. As the needle progresses, the influences and inspirations of Not Even Noticed become ever more apparent. An artist who can turn their hand to fiery electro and even-keeled techno, the energy and euphoria of the 1990s is at the heart of this sextet. Tracks build towards elated breaks that call to mind the communal experience of the club. Like those who went before, the TB303 is a willing accomplice of this journey with its trademark squelches curving to horizons. BPMs rise as tracks glide by, the thump of “TXII” being outpaced by the racing rhythms of “Smudge It.” For the finale, “Your Limbs,” tempos speed past glittering keys in a fizzingly bright close.
