mtch :: Ilvnt Dsrpt EP (Detroit Underground)

An immensely complex extended player from the glitch genre guru.

Exploratory noises from the darkest trenches of erosion

Mtch unveils Ilvnt Dsrpt for Detroit Underground, an EP that delves into a realm of acrobatic glitch and fragmented sonic structures. With its geometric and minimal audio-visual blocks, mtch’s sound even further explores experimental paths, evoking sound-scrapes of Mantle of Gets. In less than 22 minutes, exploratory noises from the darkest trenches of erosion show themselves through seamless pushing and pulling on mechanical layers that fragment into hundreds of non-melodic rhythms. Every piece seems to fit well together, maybe even made from the same threads.

“Vil Frm” shakes and rattles itself into the raw and multiplied echoes of “Trt Ft,” while “Skeq Trins” entangles itself with broken clips and clicks that eventually slide ride into the fractured alien transmission of “Non Falt” that also seems to be closely related to the fifth piece, “Isionles.” Concluding with the culmination of everything mentioned thus far, “Ent Angl” finds itself trapped in a labyrinth of “entangled” sounds and larger glitch slabs that disintegrate as quickly as they’re created.

Ilvnt Dsrpt is not recommended for the faint-hearted, and you won’t discover any form of order—rather, chaos regarding the “nature of reality.” An immensely complex extended player from the glitch genre guru.
