ltfll :: Deflect Trial EP (Kaer’Uiks)

Deflect Trial is both blissfully chaotic and strangely tactile—its outer shell exposed to light fractals that flicker at all angles while down to earth glitches entangle in an emotive spectacle for the senses.

Perhaps the sound of the Fibonacci sequence in full effect, this half dozen collection blasts through glitch extracts in expressive and colorful hues. The relatively short run time of each piece gives just enough juice to draw the listener into its exploratory soundscraping expanse.

Opening with a low-end shuffling wobble and static sound design, “two (ltfll DT1)” breaks through a dark mechanical ice storm. The same can be said for the more subdued and arching “thirteen (ltfll DT3)” where lightened pitter-patter beats coalesce in sublime sonic bursts. Deflect Trial allows very little room to breath—”five (ltfll DT2)” features shattered beatwork and a touching melodic backbone absorbing everything in its path.

There’s remix support featured here that rips through additional textural fabric. “twenty-one (ZULI DTRMX3)” creates vast leftfield rattling as “three (Fausto Mercier DTRMX1)” tears open punctuated glitch auras that spark and shimmy their way through the congestion. One can discover further bustling IDM nuggets buried deep at its core (ref. “eight (ABADIR DTRMX2”) where clicks’n cuts splice with buzzing glitch effects and ambient undertones.
