This is the first Lowfish disc I picked up after enjoying the Solvent material and the Assorted Pieces 10″. The sounds on this fit the bill of robot music from Canada. The sounds are quite Kraftwerk-inspired, but have the feel of being made by someone who grew up in the 80s – not because of “80s sounds,” but the influence is there. As I have found with Solvent’s recent release, Solvently One Listens, the disc is chock full of good tracks which, while you may not find them stuck in your head, you will find yourself recognizing them when they come on with an “Oh yeah! This track is good. How come I don’t play this more often?” These tracks are solid, fun, interesting and again, fun. I advise listening to this at work if possible as it will keep you bopping around for the day. Also interesting is the inclusion of a remix (of a Solvent song) in the middle of the album; it fits in well even if it is a bit more hyper then the other tracks. No duds on the album, and “Arch Melvin” and “Glued Smile” are my favorite tracks. Look for the blue cover with the fish X-ray in a black box on the cover.
