KAMS :: Described Spaces (Mighty Force)

KAMS has a real flair for melody and experimentalism, yet still manages to house this within a solid dance framework in such a way that everything flows seamlessly.

Oozing panache, style and technique

Described Spaces by KAMS is the latest release on the ever impressive, Mighty Force. KAMS is the project of James Cameron, who has been around for some time now, working with labels such as Ninja Tune, Hippocamp, Big Dada, and Africa7. Alongside his solo material as KAMS, he was also a member of Normal Position, which saw him perform alongside the likes of Plaid, Clark and Isan to name a few.

The album is very much aimed squarely at the dance floor, and you can hear how Cameron ended up working with Ninja Tune; however briefly that was. He’s a truly wonderful producer who delivers funk-infused acid house with more than a dash of cleverly arranged jazz sequences. The percussion is particularly impressive in this respect. He has a real flair for melody and experimentalism, yet still manages to house this within a solid dance framework in such a way that everything flows seamlessly. Described Spaces oozes panache, style and technique.

It’s upbeat, has a distinctly warm vibe and is weirdly positive. The melodies are catchy and sit atop some real grooviness. I would describe it as beautifully compulsive listening.
