A tightly packed 21 minute sonic foray

Pulling data threads from early 90s-era Detroit techno and acid funk, INFO (aka Sheffied-based bleep maestro Michael Robinson) offers four tracks that tug and pull on the heartstrings as Magnetic Fields drifts through surreal late night landscapes. Nostalgic Detroit grooves take center stage as glitched old-school melodic electronics slip by. I grew up just across the water in Windsor, Ontario and INFO manages to draw a direct line between Gratiot Ave nightscapes and Artificial Intelligence infused rhythms pulling this 4-track EP together. Reminiscent of DeFocus’ mission from the early 00s, artists like CiM, Aphelion and Plus One come to mind as INFO recreates these gravity-filled audio morsels. With a sense of fluid composition and focus, Magnetic Fields collects electro, techno, acid, funk and rhythmic IDM strands in a tightly packed 21 minute sonic foray that doesn’t let up.
