Moving very little soil in these windswept collages, Delicate Glitch adheres to the chilled side of electronics, casually unearthing layer upon layer of sonic bubbles that burst gracefully upon the ears..
[Release page] How much room can there be to stretch within 21 minutes and five selections? Quite a bit if you’re Jimmy Batista. Already queued to release a(nother) release under his Enabl.ed moniker (keep your ears pealed for Everything & Nothing on Concrete Plastic), time is not an issue with this prolific musician. Where Everything & Nothing is a fully realized expansion of chiseled electric fluctuations, crackling beatwork and liquefied melodies, his Iameb 57 alter-ego is the tamer of the two and Delicate Glitch sheds an introspective if not classical form.
We’re seeing more and more of these extended players. Call them precursors to forthcoming expanded audio escapes, Delicate Glitch aims to not only capture the best possible genre-tag description, it solidifies an already established trajectory that has come, gone and returned again. Pulses of clip-hop, emotive ambience and fractured rhythms is nothing to write home about, however, Iameb 57 manages to burry these sounds underneath layers of sediments creating an aged. almost eroded feeling. “Pelegis,” alone, is perhaps the finest definition of each sonic picture contained here. Its use of subtle melodic outbreaks and rolling percussion is inspirational and merits repeat listens.
All the digital scribbling, glitched-out emotions and purified movements aside, Iameb 57 would have slid perfectly between the early works of Neo Ouija’s roster. Now comfortably residing with the forward-thinking Nueva Forma audio-art collective, Iameb 57’s vision is fully explored. Moving very little soil in these windswept collages, Delicate Glitch adheres to the chilled side of electronics, casually unearthing layer upon layer of sonic bubbles that burst gracefully upon the ears.
Delicate Glitch is out now on Nueva Forma. [Release page]
