Himuro Yoshiteru Himuro Yoshiteru releases Jyuryoku for his Concrete Plastic (UK) debut. A four track heavy beat banger infused with expressive melodies and moving, yet playful rhythms in Himuro’s signature style. For fan’s of his resent LP, 7th Shapeshifting (Bedroom Research), Jyuryoku delves deeper in the area of drum research.

The opening track, “Inryoku,” rolls in with interspersed and intricate blipped-out hi-hats, bossy stops, crunchy hits and exploding claps; creating a tension of chugging cohesion and disintegration (push-pull) while maintaining a sparse E-Hop beat. A Gregorian-style baritone chant provides for an eerie pulse, comping with the evolving synthesizer melody, delivering an overall upbeat yet melancholy tone.

“Jyuryoku” provides for a more melodic excursion with slow rolling and bouncy drums: fracturing and washing away in tidal reverberations. Lulls of blip riffs spill over and lead into a morphing crescendo hook. “Kannana Lonely Rider” lays a groovy synth harmony, nestling the beat along with a continually peaking melody. In addition to making you move, the soulful breakdowns reach over and communicate with the listener. The closer, “Key of Keys,” is a cerebral beat swinger that delivers in Himuro’s colorful, moving, yet playful melodic style. An IDM track that may be reminiscent of Himuro’s past 4×4 excursions finely blended into hip-hop Nintendo. Enjoyable.

Overall, Jyuryoku serves the listener with masterful production. Each track is a heavy hitter, which will please the crowd and is also great to vibe-out for a more cerebral listening experience. The drumming is quite straight, without fills or solos, which allows for full appreciation of the artists progressively unique percussion.
