Although each piece has magnetized layers of digital flux tied to fractured melodic hues, the result is an over-saturated mixture of data-processed beatwork and a mirage of unassuming beauty rattling the soil it stands on.
[Listen] The Perfect Provider, a remix EP hand-picked by Jimmy Batista (aka Enabl.ed), highlights skittering electronics and severely disjointed melodies, a formula that has been delivered over and over again without fail. Yet somehow, even with the electro-shenanigans featured in this brisk 34-minute jaunt, these renovated interpretations offer a glimpse into rhythm-centric conduits that smoothly overlap each other, one speckled corner to the next. XZICD’s version of “The Perfect Provider” manages to unearth low-tumbling bass and sinister vibrations that veer far left of its neighboring cohorts; an instant highlight of the lot. James Thompson unveils a harmonious frequency that is awfully ear-engaging and instantly accessible. The artwork is perhaps the best visual description of its content; pixelated splashes of fuzzy, diamond-shaped color schemes accent the sonic scribbling detailed within. And although each piece has magnetized layers of digital flux tied to fractured melodic hues, the result is an over-saturated mixture of data-processed beatwork and a mirage of unassuming beauty rattling the soil it stands on. Nothing too surprising, but enjoyable nonetheless.
