International label which covers a musical range that goes from innovative and electronically inflected modern classical music, post-techno-ish minimalism. The label is notably known for having signed materials from well established artists Murcof, Oxia, Francesco Tristano, Aufgang just to name a few. With a passionate and fervent enthusiasm their catalog embraces anything challenging and stylistically complex in beat-electronic music, this which an interesting taste for evocative and emotional sound motifs.
The label presents its new publication under this absolutely mesmerizing live recording experience released by rather discreet but stunningly creative project Fraction (lead by the French multimedia artist Eric Raynaud). Titled Dromos, this unique live installation is made in collaboration with graduated multidisciplinary artist Mathieu Le Sourd (alias Maotik, from Montréal) and was co-produced for the contemporary art festival Mutek located in Montréal. This multi-dimensional artistic experience is said to be based on philosopher Paul Virilio’s famous Dromosphere paradigm which invite us to adopt a critical view about the reality of speed transported by the technologies of our ultra-modernity.
From a geo-physical angle this concept approaches the metabolism dimension of mobile big cities through their fascinating but at the same time dangerously hyper-active channels of communication and nomadic accidents, events. This concept is also related to critical-space and has already been translated into sound sculpted experiments in the past. In this live performance Fraction is particularly interested by the notion of infinity, censorial space and atomistic elements we can detect in the original philosophical concept of dromosphere and in its new science titled the dromology.
In itself the music is resolutely transversal, navigating from dreamy-looped glitch electronica, to classical minimalism, space ambient, electronic-world and event music with a rare genuine intuition. Each sound is meticulously approached, the global architecture totally unique, colorful, abstract, atonal, consonant, complex, mysterious and perpetually moving. A real sonorous enjoyment and absorbing musical effervescence which has this surprising capacity to attribute a true sensorial meaning to complex chains of audio-visual association.
