This 46 track project (spanning 3 1/2 hrs) was conceived several years ago and expertly curated by Johnny Jitters in 2020 for Pittsburgh-based Aud-Art. Exhibit A is the result, and it proves to be a massive undertaking considering the scope of each contribution. Checking all the boxes for abstract electronic proficiency across various points of the globe, this one is not to be missed.
With microscopic swirling moments from artists like Kiritchenko, exm, Melted_Self and crunchy beatscapes courtesy of encym and Retic, there’s no sign of slowing down as this compilation progresses track by track. Atmospheric glitch particles coalesce thanks to Blochemy, Ostudinov, ritaleite, textureset, Amby Doosters, Rébenty Tribe, and v4w.enko as ambient lava flows stream downwards by Skogn, and Roel Funcken. Exhibit A is chock full of sweet creativity. Dark ambient shadows are revealed by Syntes and higher beings, while post-industrial concrete blocks are reshaped by Mitoma, drreic, and t.e.s.o.. Disheveled braindance fractures arrive intact via The Oscilloscope, MRTN-CSTR, IDGlitch, and Eph as modular acrobatics and roughened breaks wreak havoc by Kwasior, Sommer, spednar, and Meat Load. One can go through each piece and rediscover new layers of music, melody, and mayhem not previously heard—so it takes repeated listening to even begin to appreciate the wide-angle lense Johnny Jitters used to curate such a vast collection.
