EugeneKha :: Three Months (ΠΑΝΘΕΟΝ)

The music slightly differs from usual EugeneKha productions and focuses on green field recordings, buzzed-out acoustic drone frequencies.

Russian Federation has rarely been the right place to discover the quintessential drone-minimalist landmarks but the country recently demonstrates a fancy for sonic engulments. Coming from Russia I’m mostly familiar with Infinite Fog and Zhelebeton, also because my music is sometimes distributed by them during trades between labels. A small community of neo-psychedelic aficionados, spiritual pupils of Lamonte Young, Angus McLise and the dream syndicate rose from the slavic Northern land and we can definitely locate ΠΑΝΘΕΟΝ Records in this movement.

Inside a free-form logic / handcraft attitude this micro indie label regularly publishes lysergic-tripped minimalist manifests from a bunch of relatively unknown dronescaping sound artists. Nocturnal neo-shamanic sound processions are sometimes organized by Tim Six (label head), his wife, and fellow kindreds, in order to spread the waves of droning ecstasy with hints of ethno-ritual elements. Let’s stop a moment on the new EugeneKha (Evgenij V. Kharitonov)—a multifaceted sound sculptor and ambient artist who has been active for many years in the underground music scene. On the menu, ambient quiescence and contemplative bliss for long sustained chords and glimmering electronics. His musical signature is often at a cross between Robert Rich, Ophooi and Vidna Obmana. This new album is served in a beautifully handmade packaging with a colorful alchemical sense of composition.

In itself the music slightly differs from usual EugeneKha productions and focuses on green field recordings, buzzed-out acoustic drone frequencies. Some parts reveal somber-spooky soundscapes, sustained by natural world timbres. Fans of unbeat chillout meditative textures from Amir Baghiri, Steve Roach, Rapoon or even Voice Of Eye won’t be disappointed.

Three Months is available ΠΑΝΘΕΟΝ.
