Another engaged return to Dissolved‘s sonic space is here in the form of a 9-track musical manifest titled Modern Mineralogy. We’ve covered Paul Daniels’ work over the years and it’s always a treat to hear what’s new from the prolific Glasgow-born—Vancouver-transplant.
Parallel to other releases, Dissolved continues to refine his signature details via creative melodic development and percussive arrangement. It’s the layers upon layers of melodic undertones that keep the album afloat; a myriad of continuously stretched harmonic rhythms weave into and out of focus—all seemingly blended as one elongated mass. At times delving into harsher industrial layers and crunchy electro-tinged hues, Modern Mineralogy performs from start to end as a fluid audio panoramic. A primed sound and vision discovery, shifted time and space form the basis of this geometric crystallography.
