Rhythmic and fractured techno
Over the course of four tracks, totaling around twenty-five minutes, ctrl+opt (aka Angelo Fajardo) processes a multitude of rhythmic and fractured techno on Máximo Volumen 1. “Te Chumba” opens with technoid and vocal clusters, while “Flapjack” features funk dynamics and broken house. Closing track “Pray 4 U” delves into subdued, dub-infused techno for the dance floor with swaying reggae overtones in the periphery as “Liar, Liar” follows more conventional jungle/house transmissions that eventually implode midway. Whether you’re lounging on your sofa or in the heart of a run-down downtown commercial district, Máximo Volumen 1 elevates late night grooves for splintered wooden floorboards of abandoned warehouses—its detuned techno and rave pulse pointed directly at your feet. These are seriously syncopated bass lines and steady machine drums.
