Corporeal Face :: The Upward Spiral EP (Acroplane)

Taking us back to classic Altern 8 days where heavy sonic artillery was crafted around blissful and engaged melodic hooks, snappy sound samples and rave-infused strands.

Bustling low-end breakbeats

Acroplane takes a different approach for their latest EP by Corporeal Face (check out Somewhere Out There EP on Furthur Electronix)—The Upward Spiral is harder-edged pulsing drum’n bass from the outer edges of the mid/late 90s with an organic crunch’n breaks vibration. Taking us back to classic Altern 8 days where heavy sonic artillery was crafted around blissful and engaged melodic hooks, snappy sound samples and rave-infused strands.

Acroplane offer this 4-track behemoth as a limited edition transparent fluoro green heavy vinyl for the avid wax collector and digital download for ease of access. The fun-packed rhythms of opener “To Make It” is enough to grab our attention as the bustling low-end breakbeats of “Get To Stepping” ventures through nostalgic frequency bursts and bass shuffled bliss. Shifting jungle madness maneuvers around fidgeting blips and bleeps on “Shake Your Brain,” setting out to capture the entire drum’n bass scene. Corporeal Face closes with “What A Trip,” delivering touching points to A Guy Called Gerald’s classic Black Secret Technology; its floating melodic bits busted up by ravaged synths, re-envisioning the past and refueling where it took us.

The Upward Spiral is available on Acroplane. [Bandcamp]
