Bluørangee :: White Pajamas (Numb Capsule)

A bursting influx of delicate synthesizer noodling, lo-fi mechanics, and ambient-electronic miniatures. White Pajamas expands and contracts, offering other-worldly tones and drones, an ebb and flow, and a meandering electrical complex built from 100s of uniquely crafted sound sculptures.

I would not have been at all surprised had White Pajamas been released on Audiobulb, an imprint that continues to excel at delivering organic data-bubbles. Here we see the 4-year old Thessaloniki-based imprint Numb Capsule and their rotating musical fragments offering White Pajamas by Luca Morello (aka Bluørangee). The result is a bursting influx of delicate synthesizer noodling, lo-fi mechanics, and ambient-electronic miniatures.

“Tarvisio’s Woods Feelings” is such a beauty, its 142-second duration is a looping journey of brisk melodic notes floating in the background. “Bianco” lasts a mere 100-seconds but is able to extract a distinctive, if not drifting tonal activity. And this is how Bluørangee keeps the listeners attention—the fluttering bells and whistles are shot out via subtle flares that end just as quickly as they begin. The highlight, and perhaps the finest of the lot, takes shape on the 99-second “Ackee Juice”—a quaint, harmonic influx that glides by peacefully. There are bits and bobbles slipping through the cracks (“Untitled Skit,” and “By The Ocean Side”) that must be listened to carefully for their sonic details and textured blissfulness.

Sure, one might see White Pajamas as a 15-track microscopic collection filled with glitched morsels, but as a whole, the album expands and contracts, offering other-worldly tones and drones, an ebb and flow (ie. “Senza Colore”—with the longest runtime at 180-seconds), and a meandering electrical complex built from 100s of uniquely crafted sound sculptures. Perhaps meant for evening listening in a pair of white pajamas, no less!

White Pajamas is available on Numb Capsule.
