First, lets start off with the fact that Adreom exudes the perfect intersection between Tri Repetae-era Autechre and Atol Scrap-era Arovane. This is no easy feat, mind you, and shouldn’t be passed as a general comment. If you can imagine a nodal point where simmering melodies are balanced above rhythmic accuracy and strumming simplicity, then it will be easier to assess where Blochemy takes their sound. Sculpting softened pads and low-end crunching, there’s a musical symmetry pouring from the edges of Adreom. A rip in the IDM fabric which (also) recalls esteemed sonic creators Esem and Nikakoi, Czech Republic’s Blochemy is a new project and debuts on recently formed digital label Clean Error.
Predominately focused on ambient electronics, there’s a quaint melancholic flurry of activity that wisps by these nine tracks. “Dinae” streams an atmospheric whir of light and calming sounds as high-viscosity micro-melodies featured on “Fonehi” pass by with percussive fervor. “Gaodeun” and “Nion” emit an aural space, their rhythmic bass-laden tone and soft pads are buried in clips of mechanic charm. The solemness of “Olab”—perhaps the most emotional in the lot—extracts the finest particles and forms them into a cohesively tranquil glitch-infused ambient sheet.
Adreom ‘s constant flow is best absorbed in one fluid listen rather than in parts. Overall you’ll easily find polished audio crystals that bend and contort in the most attractive directions. This musical undertaking shifts into a nostalgic time lapse through the past decade of experimental electronic music, yet it also elicits a certain magnetic appeal that can’t be ignored.
Adreom is available on Clean Error.
