Badrich (aka J. Goodrich) returns with 38-minutes of organized chaotic rumbling. Almost as if intentionally running his modular machinery through a washing machine, Fatberg dips and dives through an electrical maze. Seemingly broken into four interconnected parts (“mauve // span // choff // self replication”), Badrich blends electroacoustic glitch, digital debris, atmospheric noise, and acidic squelches like a skilled sonic craftsman. Off-center percussive jolts are consistently tangled with 100s of mechanical tones crashing against broken rock faces. In all, Fatberg may appear to be an improvised, if not arcane dosage of sporadic nonsense, but dig a little further and you’ll hear its meticulous rhythmic deconstruction.
Fatberg is available on Bandcamp.
