Wildly experimental but punctuated by vibrant melodious tense phrases, this tape is a real curiosity and guarantees an original sonic sound exploration.
Minimal Trend Records is among the rare labels to defend with passion and integrity the most engaging side of underground contemporary minimal electronic music, bringing to the fore an enthusiasm for new discoveries and emerging artists. This record structure’s ambition is to follow the musically adventurous path ever embraced by labels such Other Voices, Dark Entries and Aufnahme + Wiedergabe to name a few. The label is originally founded by the producer Oksana Rodionova (Xiu) and is based in Italy. Devoted to minimal synth, dark wave, retro-futurist electronic experiments and anything in between, the label published a first essay as a compilation work the past year (Minimal Milan).
This limited tape edition titled Emily is a work released by AU+ who already made an appearance on the vinyl compilation with a ground-breaking opening track. In the context of Minimal Trend Records live plans, the band performed in various places. Wildly experimental but punctuated by vibrant melodious tense phrases, this tape is a real curiosity and guarantees an original sonic sound exploration.
The content shows an inclination for a diversified panel of distorted-creeped-out then mesmeric electronic sounding textures, surfing on isolationist noise ambient territory. Cold and seductively desperate echoing voices from the dark meets mechanical dream pulses, glitchy effects and synthesized negative doominess. The synthetic and claustrophobic ambiences suggested by the ensemble are not so far from skeletal-hypnotic desolate textures proposed by projects such as Omit, CTI, X-TG, Jarboe and a few musical curiosities from Cosey Fani Tutti. Emily is a really tripped out darkly weird minimal release, largely recommended for adventurous electronic music listeners.
Emily is available on Minimal Trend.
