The outcome of this endeavour is a series of traces that embody the distinct vision of the two artists involved, as well as the unique characteristics of the respective territories or places. These traces collectively offer a singular proposition, born from the irreplicable interplay of these elements and the intricate layering of the accumulated experiences.

A complex sound mass
This single is the second release in the series The Eighth Climate curated by ATME Records, and features a collaboration between Lorenzo Setti (ATŌMI) and Turin-based music producer Corgiat, a metaphorical piece that brings to light the duality of growth, choices, and the perception of oneself as an adult and, at the same time, as a child, the anticipated course, development, or progression over time, the curved path an object follows through space. Coming of age in this modern world.
Corgiat is the alias of Italian composer and sound artist Giovanni Corgiat Mecio. His practice explores sound as a generative and spatial medium, merging acoustic instruments, electronic synthesis, and digital processes to create immersive listening experiences. His work investigates sound’s ability to generate shared spaces of listening, suspended between memory, perception, and imagination.
Lorenzo Setti is an Italian born-Berlin based sound artist, composer and performer, also known as ATŌMI. In ATŌMI’s conceptual approach to the creative act there is a clear interconnection between the micro and macro systems – the cosmos and human perception. Symbolic, oneiric and hermetic elements, blend together with a focus on the subconscious and the awakening of atavistic knowledge.
Setti‘s voice is manipulated, distorted, and reproduced by different AI voices, forming a personality shift that follows the constant poetic fluctuation between adult and child, the cornerstone of the poem itself. The artists compare their childhood memories and perceptions of themselves and analyze their choice to pursue a career in music from an emotional and relational point of view, i.e., in relation to how this choice was also pursued because of the confirmation and appreciation they received during early childhood.

The emotional delivery is effective ::
“Traiettorie” (4:07) opens into flickering electric shadows, multimedia sounds including some talking, the effects all around are aggressive, strange fragments that create a barrage and chaos which builds into an explosion of animated and artistically angry poet passion, with stark contrasts and energy. I have no idea what the words mean, but the emotional delivery is effective.
The recordings collected were edited and modified using compression and resonance processes. The creative abuse of these processes generates a complex sound mass from which unexpected details and movements emerge. The focus on sound design does not stem from technical research, but rather from the same playful-creative approach that characterizes childhood. It is an erratic movement in thoughts and possibilities of aimless action, an exploration of boredom and wonder.
“The main dialogue develops around the theme of childhood as perceived through the eyes of a child who is becoming an adult, and in particular through the development of his ego, which craves, demands, is wounded and strengthened, suffers and fights back. It speaks of the sincere and profound perception of ourselves, of how our abilities have shaped our path and sometimes elevated us above our peers or friends. The sense of importance and the ego become fundamental to the development of a vision of life that we still largely cling to or continue to develop. Corgiat‘s childhood home comes after the exploration of the city, as if the process of discovery started from the present moment and moved backwards in time, touching in a non-linear way the place where souls reunite and bodies disappear: the Monumental Cemetery of Turin.”
More of this Eighth Climate theme is curiously anticipated.
