A deep and emotional contemplation through micro-sonic waves, sinuous acoustic ambient textures, semi-improvised minimalism and generative noises.
If Fluid Audio, Audio Gourmet, Hibernate, Home Normal and a few more represent the key DIY actors in the late development of indie-craft based ambient minimalism in Great Britain, eilean rec. (sic) is one notorious representative in this field of musical edition in France. The label allows a number of new artists to sign their materials as small limited editions, assorted by a digital version, following the rules of the e-commercial publishing platform Bandcamp. In this new micro edition, the imprint welcomes an Italian-based duet formed by the sound artists and multi-instrumentalist Riccardo Wanke and cello player Francesco Dillon. Acre is a deep and emotional contemplation through micro-sonic waves, sinuous acoustic ambient textures, semi-improvised minimalism and generative noises. The duet explores the dynamic and expressive potential of processed drone music. The soundscapes are gently harmonious but also admit dissonant elements and a more experimental approach, playing with timbres, silence, abrupt percussive motives, sometimes interacting with concrete music and aleatoric sound manipulations. A few parts are seriously nihilistic, harsh and conceptual, punctuated by clouds of ominous drone and repetitive sound patterns. Finally Acre reveals a sensorial and intellectual dialogue between avant-garde minimalism, electro-acoustic paradigms and noisy drone waves.
