Sixty Drops :: Turquoise (Self-Released)

A breath of fresh air, an ode to docile glitch, brisk clicks, and wandering trails, Turquoise is solemn, disparaging, and filled with electrical noodles meant to be entangled in its downtempo sheen.

Turquoise opens with the emotional “Fold 013,” a crisp, glitch and an intertwined chant wraps itself in a mesmerizing loop akin to Dead Can Dance. Sixty Drops is Pratola Peligna, Italy-based artists Daniele Vergni on synths, effects and programming and Salvatore Carducci on drums and rhythm programming, mix and mastering. The duo deliver an electronic cornucopia of erratic and effective sound escapes (“Connect-I-Cut”), blending and transforming as vocal bits coalesce with industrial fragments (“Another Break in the War”).

Where the likes of Ginormous, Valance Drakes and early IDM-proginator Si-{cut}.db might explore, Sixty Drops manifest subtle mechanical and majestic sonic foraging. Subotnick-infused “The Beatless” indicates that Turquoise is a well-balanced creative suite—this track alone digs deep into arcane lost worlds, drones and corroded horns falling by the wayside. A breath of fresh air, an ode to docile glitch, brisk clicks, and wandering trails (“Louis Cyphere”), Turquoise is solemn, disparaging, and filled with electrical noodles meant to be entangled in its downtempo sheen.

Turquoise is available on Bandcamp.
