V/A ‘Frag’mnts’

[Release page] Enig’matik may seemingly be all over the low-rumbling frequency spectrum of bass, but they’ve also adapted and cultivated a mixture of visual aesthetics that is forward thinking, innovative and captivating with each release. The Australian collective has—over the years—garnered attention from a large fan-base as they continue to amass a roster that is diverse and fully engaged in their craft. While spanning several genres, Frag’mnts breaks down into several pieces: Hip-Hop (via Super Galactic Expansive), crystalized IDM/bass (via Whitebear, The Cogent Project—which happen to be the most emotional of the lot), experimental dub (via Woulg, Auma & Desiseq and Quanta), leftfield world influences (via Mind Tree, InterLaken) and funky-downtempo (via Circuit Bent and Fine Cut Bodies). All of the tracks simmer in a proverbial soup of manipulated melodic strands, liquified low-end and subtle vocal brushing.

Taking yet another step forward into a dense patchwork of polished electronics and visual stimuli, Frag’mnts captures the essence of the imprint as it slices through genre confines and allows the expansion of sound to propagate even further into universal bass music.
