If Dr.Nojoke is interested in experimenting with his audience, then he definitely succeeds with Unexpressed, a multi-layered voyage through click-infested beauty, microscopic tones, alien worlds, minimal sound design and astute audio architecture. Opening with the silent “Standstill” and closing void of “Listen”—intentionally positioned to invoke questions of reality and what can be heard—the points tucked in-between the opening/closing on this proverbial sonic-map is detailed with poly-rhythmic passages of bass and beat.

Overall, a satisfying transmission of detailed curiosity which takes the shape of left-field noodling—swaying back and forth between exp-electronics and rubbery beatwork that merits its own listening environment or hi-fidelity testing facility. As Dr.Nojoke puts it quite simply, “Unexpressed stands for all my ambiguous and ambivalent feelings about the system and the world I am living in—feelings like a roller-coaster I don’t know how to express in words. Music seems to be a way. Unexpressed is also an attempt to understand what is inside of me. It is a very personal album.”
