When tuned into the creations by Jon Canupp (aka Ten and Tracer), you’re immediately lifted to a platform of casually placed melodies that drift into subtle corners of your mind. Oftentimes you’re left to wonder how sounds can crash together so peacefully. Based in Longmont Colorado, Jon has been able to involve himself with the delicate intricacies of his equipment, culling bits and pieces of soft rhythms from the inner recesses and incorporating them with a pleasant mix of uplifting sounds. Many areas are tucked away and buried underneath a bed of relaxed and thoughtful sheets of melodies, others are placed on the foreground, left to run and move into your minds ear with ease and comfort.

Although an unavoidable link to the Boards of Canada can be drawn from a few (or more) of Ten and Tracer’s pieces, you can’t deny the fact that Jon massages his tracks with a distinct vibe that is personal to himself and to his tools. With his latest effort (and a debut official release) with Inc.Us, Ten and Tracer has developed and cultivated a quaint place for the listener to relax. While sometimes stretched out, and at times tucked within, this 12″ maneuvers through complex portions of cute beats and spacey debris, while maintaining its intended structure -to massage your mind, and tickle your feet.

Perhaps it’s the lush mountainsides of the Colorado landscape that crafts these tunes? Perhaps it’s just the machinery that develops the decadent melodies? Or perhaps these pieces are culled from Jon Canupp’s focus on relaxed melodic tones? Choose one of those, or mix the three, and you’re placed right inside Keylemon Reports entirely.

When music becomes an emotion, and when an emotion molds into a feeling -this is when you can confidently say that a release has performed its function. For a debut release, it won’t be any surprise to see this record making a comfortable home on your turntable and in your memory banks. Crafted from mountains. Released on plastic.
