Proem :: No_Carrier (Component)

Proem’s No_Carrier 3″ CD-EP is yet another electronic classic as it propels itself into spatial digital trickery and ambient atmospheric glitch with even some gentle piano keystrokes to make it all flow nicely. The swift and snappy percussive elements tied to the piano extracts make for a comfortable listen for Richard Baileys latest title. The title track on this 20 minute musical art form is laced with rhythmic bass-beats and atmospheric swishes creating a thoroughly enjoyable palette of thoughtful chords and melodic rings. It seems like Proem’s latest work is emphasizing the relaxed/ambient piano driven genre. With this formula, No_Carrier still delivers Proem’s signature snappy-beats and pensive moods.

    Dryft :: The Mytotyc Exyt (Component)

    Dryft’s The Mytotyc Exyt CD-EP delves into a more lively sounding percussive driven landscape with harsher and more abrasive manipulations of sound. Frantic drums are molded to thoughtful melodic rhythms and yet this EP (including 3 extra mixes by Eclipsect, Codec and O2)
    still manages to cut a thorough section thru multiple forms of electronic music.

    Dryft (aka Mike Cadoo, n5MD label-head) delivers a solid array of experimental tracks for Component Records. Fans of Christian Kleine and/or Herrmann & Kleine might also enjoy the latest release by Dryft. There’s the signature guitar/ambience slowly cascading over live-drums that attracts the brain and heart easily on this release such as “dibl2e” and the ever so beautiful (and reworked) “Caloc (Version). The title track, “The Mytotyc Exyt” flows into a wash of thick ambient instrumentation while subtle yet well executed percussion drives the track through a stream of electrical debris. “Slalum (Eclipsect remix)” delves into an experimentally intact summary of industrial elements with its sharp beats, dark and direct atmospherics and cascading rhythms. It’s difficult to pick a favorite on this CD-EP, but I’d have to say that “Caloc (Version)” and O2’s remix of the title track both manage to cull the best of experimentally explosive electronics for this release. Well worth listening to on late nights..
