Maintaining a contemplative groove, this extended player meanders between loosely tied genres with a focus on delivering untangled electric distortions peppered in beautifully eroded sonic shapes.

Drifting In Silence

Drifting In Silence That warm and fuzzy spot nestled within shoegaze and post-industrial is the breeding ground for Drifting In Silence‘s latest musical panoramic. Compiled as a virtual 7″, this (free) digital download takes elements from Lifesounds (Labile, 2011) and dips into stripped percussion, synthesized washes and emotive strings. “Interminable” casts a shadow on thick sheets of ice as it evaporates layers of fog unveiling a nostalgic charm. “Through The Eyes” stretches chopped beatwork, glitch and a mechanical texture recalling Gridlock’s seminal Formless album (Hymen, 2003) in subdued reflections. “When The Sun Goes Down” initially exhibits an instrumental parallel to Depeche Mode‘s “Barrel Of A Gun,” but then takes on a life of its own as beats and synths implode along the way. “Lifelike” contains hues of Miles Tillman’s Toytronic days; the shimmering lights of ambience are thinly processed and exude a sense of rebirth. The title track trickles into Clicks’n Cuts terrain and switches gears midway to cascade its classical strands of polished shoegaze. All reference points aside—and we did utilize a few here—they only point to sounds and images that drift into view while listening to Waves Of Consciousness. Maintaining a contemplative groove, this extended player meanders between loosely tied genres with a focus on delivering untangled electric distortions peppered in beautifully eroded sonic shapes.
