Parallemped is EEDL’s debut from this Barcellonian duo. At just about
28 minutes you can easily see that these folks have been listening to
some of their predecessors on labels Mille Plateaux and ~scape. Their
take on microsound is a steady ambient beat, with a bastion of quirky
electronics. This is a warm blend of wary drones and scintillating
surface noise. An overall sound that is propelled humpy beats and
infused with a jangly eastern influence. These five tracks are a
perfect introduction to a new breaking sound. In ways this reminds me
of the emergence of Cornershop, bringing the sensuality of local color
and rhythm into their music. While not merely a dance record, actually
far from it, Parallemped is a sampler of experiments in electronics that
will appeal to a wide variety of sensitive ears. Note: This 12″ EP also features an excellent remix composed by Finnish electronic composer, Esa Ruoho (aka Lackluster).. making this EP well worth the purchase!
