French artist Zooey debuts on spa.RK with a really warm 5-track vinyl only EP. Great melodies and cozy atmospheres, tiny sounds, lullaby spirit and an obvious “joie de vivre” that you can find in every track. Zooey previously appeared on the Fat Cat Compilation No Watches No Maps and has an upcoming full length release on Peter I’m Flying (french label).Zooey is Mathieu Beck, currently based in Bordeaux, near the Atlantic coast of France. Appealing to fans of Mego and Beach Boys, Twin Peaks and red wine, The Beaver Island EP is the perfect sound for a winter day while you’re watching through the window waiting for the sunny days to come. Definitely for emotional audiences. The opening track is simply irresistible with its exquisite melody line and subtle downtempo beats. “Nous Marchons Sous la Neige” (meaning “we walk under the snow’) maintains the moody feeling of Zooey’s world. “111.1 (Fibla Remix)” has it’s own story: Fibla fell in love with Zooey’s track on the Fat Cat compilation and here he delivers a gorgeous and lush remix of that song, his first appearance on spa.RK imprint.
