A multi-textured genre fabric
Early September saw the release of Rewoven Transmissions, an eight track remix compilation presenting rewoven CRT tracks into a multi-textured genre fabric originally stitched together on the 2021 A Bright Eyed Creature album, also available on Component.
Opening with swirling synth worlds on “Cryogenique (Production Unit Xero Remix)” to dark-techno clusters on “Local Celebrity (Obscure Formats Remix),” there’s a veritable feast to consume front to back. Gritty synths and disheveled blips and bass deform on “Relief Squad (Xplitiv Remix)” as brittle ambient bubbles burst on “Overworm (CLAIR Remix),” where time stands still and an eventual glitch explosion fosters a beautiful odyssey.
Another highlight takes form on the slithering downtempo groove of “Progress (Meat Beat Manifesto Remix), a baffling revision that adds a splintered vocoder lyrical rap, pulsing rhythm, and Jack Dangers’ one of a kind EMS Synthi 100 on overdrive, to the original synth squelching video game-like sojourn—now this is progress! Vintage soundtrack worlds and technoid fissures split open on “Bundle Flow (Displacer Remix),” while fractured drones and distressed tones saturate the senses on “Paranalytic (Shimmer Crush Remix).” It all comes to an end on the drifting atmospheric waves and unfettered noises of “Extra Life Fucker (Elizabeth Virosa & Giuliana Funkhauser Remix),” a surreal dreamlike sequence.
