With Amber Rooms, a ten-piece suite recorded earlier in 2024, Dissolved makes another comeback and continues to build on the foundations of melodic and kaleidoscope electronics. Each piece’s size and clarity give the impression that they were drawn from ethereal sound sources, fusing powerful rhythmic sequences, glitches, breaks, and ambient/atmospheric sounds into exquisite sonic imagery.
The Glasgow-born and Vancouver-based artist crafts unique and sometimes eerie atmosphere as well, where tracks like “Describe a Loss,” “Crystal Furnace,” and Peltiform’s surreal swirling alter-ego remix expand and contract through the clouds. Nevertheless, the windy and industrial soundtrack swell of “Isochronus Synapse” connects everything in fluid harmony.
As “Alim Deci,” “Attempt to be Vertical,” and “Spherical Scorch” whisper their audio chemistry, Amber Rooms‘ vision doesn’t conclude, instead, delivering fragmented beat patches and sizzling glitch strands that could flow infinitely. Unsurprisingly dreamlike, Amber Rooms blends as a whole before dissipating into thin air.
