The third outing for Projector Records follows the excellent The Trolley, Various Artists CD which received airplay on Radio One, XFM, GLR and Resonance FM. This time out, Vertical Cat (Sulphur/Smallfish) and Peter Nofi from The Shortwave Set (Low Resolution) join the usual suspects in typically bizarre and eclectic surroundings.
From twisted garage (Madam) to haloumi breaks (Neil Armstrong) via addled exotica (Bumblepup) and freakish vocal outings (Dollybird), Know Your Monkey leaves no stone unturned. There’s the interstellar cut & pastry of harD sK, clarity and decadence from Cabin 33 and Yimkin, and the sound of a whole recording studio being filtered through a coffee percolator courtesy of Noakes Pressure.
Projector’s first releases were described by Sonomu as “Very varied… some really gorgeous tracks” and by Sound Projector as “…An offbeat spin on dance music… highly enjoyable and extremely accomplished“.
