Chairweiner :: P1LL5 EP (EC Underground / Dead Money) — Vinyl giveaway US residents!

P1LL5 is an extended player we’re very excited about, its musical flashbacks, and forward-thinking soundscaped orchestration is on par with the likes of Plaid, Boards of Canada, Amon Tobin, Clark, and Meat Beat Manifesto—a press-release comparison we’re in total agreement with.

Detroit roots merge with Edinburgh branches on Chairweiner’s forthcoming P1LL5. Smothered downtempo strands of nostalgia overflow on these four, feel-good tracks. The South Florida-based artist (Brett Wilkin) produced drum’n bass in the late 90s with a string of releases through the mid-2000s—now finding a stronghold of rhythm-fueled soundscapes and mind-bending electronica for East Coast Underground’s sophomore release and also split with Dead Money Records.

Set for a 12″ to be confirmed mid/late Summer 2022, we’re featuring the title track as a video premiere with motion graphics by Dan Conway based on on a screen-print by Brian Halsey, 1983. Its groove slithers through synth-spun and Detroit-inspired melodies that meander through the streets creating a hypnotizing and colorful sheen. “Fractallica” opens with overflowing sonic saturation; its downtrodden beats fluttering about in the wind; an emotional surplus of electrical activity that can’t be ignored and a perfectly executed gem. The minute and a half duration of “782507” provides just enough BoC interluding audio flux with its reversed-looped aural fizz-fuzz and melodic blur—a subtle message is buried for us to uncover at some point in the next decade. The magnum opus takes shape on “Triune,” a hauntingly beautiful epic spanning just over 9-minutes of tranquilized synths and gauzy electronica from the upper atmosphere—it eventually transforms into a blissful and faster-paced techno slice of life. Its paranormal infusion (as my 14 year old daughter describes it) also mutates and continues with a magnetic and overarching glow.

P1LL5 is available on EC Underground and Dead Money.
