Fractured and damaged electronics with a pulse
An onslaught of rugged beats and smoldering bass inhabits Far East Connection—a half dozen collection released with Specimen. Both musicians sonic powerhouses on their own, combined they mix industrial electronics, low-end shuffling, and distant melodies (listen to the title track), with field recordings and syncopated rhythms. “Mira” delivers swirling bass thuds and robotic blips and bleeps as cybernetic technoid slivers featured on “Crush” manifests a clear view of what these two are capable of. Tangled acid and manipulated glitch extracts abound on “THC,” as distorted breaks’n bass on “Mathmatics” (sic) buries Ex.Hale & King Rambo Sound’s deep in the mud. The closing mechanics of “Fugitive” casts an audible shadow across an abandoned factory, further enforcing what Far East Connection is all about—fractured and damaged electronics with a definitive pulse.
