Lightly brushed braindance naughtiness
Japanese breaks and intelligent dance music artist Ton Mise returns to the ranks of Inpuj with this end of year extravagant 8-track titled Turquoise Sky.
Taking no time to set the pace on the front foot, opener “Okpasokon,” takes nifty 8-bit RPG momentum’s down a quest that from a narrative’s perspective throws our hero directly into the midst of the second act. Fought with crushed drum programming that with an overlay of delicate synth adjustments, there are hints of early Tom Jenkinson with lightly brushed braindance naughtiness.
Ton Mise continues to push boundaries in personal favorite and followup track “More.” Sometimes we are met with the best tracks first and see a tail off during the second half of a release, which can be unfortunate and wishing the artist had stuck to a solid 4-track EP. We are in the fortunate position here, that Ton Mise has delivered a sincere diversity in these sounds that breaths a well executed album. Each track stands on its own, whilst ultimately culminating in a cohesive collection.
