(08.03.08) Roland Sebastian Faber returns to Aube with his latest 12″ EP. Faber’s first EP on the German label, Hommage An Die Jugend Europas, was received well by the electronic community with “Hommage I” reaching number eight in the CBS Top 100 of 2007, no mean feat to say the least. Once more Faber is offering up two cuts of his own brand of outer space analogue action in the form of Wettkampf Der Moleküle with Kraftwerk’s Emil Schult leading his artistry to the sleeve.

The record opens with “Molecular,” a work of early synthesizer lines that weave and bend with Faber adding crisp snares and squelching layers of bass. As the track develops deeper keys are melted in to give that space feel of the “Hommages.” As the piece breaks a wonderfully warm synth medley is revealed whilst waves roll across the backdrop. “Molecular” has a playfulness to it, the melody holding an innocent freshness leading the listener further into the composition. A real late night, early morning, work, bordering on the twilight.
The B-Side holds “Eisengard.” The track comes into being amongst a swirl of bass and beats. Synthesizer soars and warm analogue tones build the piece before Andy Marlow’s guitar strings add a whole new element to the piece. Arches of string and synth meld together to produce a heady otherworldly track with an Eloy space rock slant.
Faber has created another piece of synthesizer space music. This is not typical electro, nor does it fit snugly into the electronica folder. Wettkampf Der Moleküle is a culmination of Faber’s electronic experience mixed with an astro-analogue and space rock tinge, producing a thought provoking record.

Wettkampf Der Moleküle is out now on Aube.
