Nickolas Mohanna :: Chroma (Karlrecords)

Chroma illustrates a disjointed 8-pc sonic tapestry, one that is sewn together by extraterrestrial acoustics making for a perplexing experience.

Fuzzy, abstract and discordant noises are on display with Nickolas Mahonna‘s Chroma. All manner of sound, from broken piano keys, sheared voices, turbulent shoegaze, and dense field recordings seem to float by within the shadows. A visceral Oval versus Fennesz dynamic drifts by—almost as if intentionally meant to distract the senses—is carried by the weight of its dark drones and otherworldly sheen. Embarking on a strange modular sojourn that incorporates mangled instrumentation, mechanical textures, dystopian landscapes, and the odd clicks and cuts, Mahonna sheds these elements throughout each piece. As a result, Chroma illustrates a disjointed 8-pc sonic tapestry, one that is sewn together by extraterrestrial acoustics making for a perplexing experience.

Chroma is available on Karlrecords.
