The new Neferiu Records compilation is definitely a peculiar sampler of sorts. Shining the light on no particular style, this fully packaged CD compilation taps into techno, house, ambient, and drum’n bass without any glitches or cracks at the seams.
Nate Schmold (aka Mantra and Neferiu label head) has compiled a series of relatively unknown artists to showcase on this sampler, and it shouldn’t go unnoticed.
Based in Calgary Alberta (Canada), it’s a surprise and pleasure to see new and upcoming electronic labels sprouting from these quite regions. Folks like Suction (Toronto) and Alien8 (Montreal) have established a name for themselves and i think Neferiu will follow suit with their own perspective/style in mind.
Esa Ruoho (Lackluster) offers his soft basslines glued to dark melodies with “Haloaw” while the track that immediately follows is a full-on vibe inducing intelligent house-anthem by a fella named Lukas Nystrand.
As a result, Neferiu’s sampler showcases a fine variety of up and coming talent from Finland, Canada, Sweden and France. This sampler will definitely appeal to many techno/ambient/electronic heads out there without a doubt.
After a year in the making, Neferiu is prepared to (finally) display their roster to the world. Artist’s include Krii, Abstrackt, FranK And Bill, Mantra, Trisome, R/Forslund, Willbe, Vexion, Lackluster, Lukas Nystrand, Dupont, and Ilkae.
From this CD sampler teaser, Neferiu Records seems to have their label rolling along nicely. Keep your ears open for further releases on this label such as intelligent techno and ambient producer, Salice.
