Eu :: Reframing (Pause2)

Well. Ilya Baramiya and Alexander Zaitcev (aka Eu) have done it again; this time they’ve rearranged their subtle electronic glitch hip-hop into a more refined melodic structure. “Wienn” (also featured on Eu’s 7″ with Pause2 Recordings) makes another debut on this extended EP, or EEP) and is one of the highlight’s on this 8 track puncher. A series of tweaked voices bend back and forth while a syncopated snap beat and a pulsing bass-line unfolds into tiny layers of debris. The ending track, “Radums” is another mind bender that seems to contain the same bass-line as “Wienn”–a remix perhaps?Nonetheless, both of these tracks create a sonic palette of drifting ambience tied to sharply tuned Eu manufactured beatscapes, and intelligently fluid rhythms.

The rest of this mini-album concentrates on shaping the listener’s ears to a form of ambient-glitch electronics. If you’re looking for the more ambient-experimental side of Eu, then turn to their release on Art-Tek called Eu_Soft. Reframing is a logical step ahead in the melody ring for Eu, an area that should be explored even further with the purchase of this CD only title.

Mix one part Plod (Worm Inferface), five parts Novel 23 (Art-Tek), and 2 parts MD (Merck) and you almost have the Eu recipe.
