Advanced Dreams :: Islands of Memory (Lantern)

Crystal clear, it’s a smooth, long ride in a luxury automobile, a big, thickly-upholstered Lincoln, cruising deserted downtown skyscraper canyons at night.

The little Japanese label Lantern has a fondness for soft but suggestive Russian dub techno (hitherto in the form of Martin Schulte aka Marat Shibaev). Islands of Memory is the debut disc by Advanced Dreams, the duo of Alexander Shirokov and Dmitry Bodunov. The vibe is rounder and smoother than the angular architecture featured on the front cover first might suggest. Crystal clear, it’s a smooth, long ride in a luxury automobile, a big, thickly-upholstered Lincoln, cruising deserted downtown skyscraper canyons at night, when the traffic lights have been switched to automatic blink. Comfortable and insulated from the weather outside, sink in deep and don’t touch that dial on the radio.

Islands of Memory is available on Lantern.
