Experimental Electronic Music
Field Recordings is an ongoing long-term project in which the artist, Ard Bit (Ard Janssen), listens to specific places and environments. Each release is a self-contained album, based on field recordings made on location. The recordings are either presented close to how they were captured or layered with musical and experimental forms derived from the original material. The project does not follow a fixed album cycle, but develops over time as a continuous practice.
Sprung from a blend of improvisation and composition based on minimalism and depth of (sound)field, his latest, Juxtaposed, is the fourth in a recently inaugurated series of audio works on DƎЯRDE—more experimental, electro-acoustic and cross-genre side-label of Dronarivm and Fonodroom.
Calm yet immersive and quietly surreal, Restlicht finds Rotterdam ambient artist Ard Bit drifting through evolving atmospheric states where sound softens reality and gently overtakes the listener.

Highlighting hundreds of releases in 2024 (and allowing December to set in), we’ve compiled a list of our favorites along with links to their corresponding Igloo reviews and release pages. Since the lists are arranged alphabetically by artist—and a snapshot of tracks are featured in our Soundcloud playlist along with selected Bandcamp tracks and random artwork selections—there are, as usual, no winners or runners-up.
The complete pieces are reconstructed settings from a human perspective. In them, you can hear subtle changes, and arguably some development. The album is mainly atmospheric, communicating a wide and subtle range of gloomy impressions and moods.
Unlike the previous release, on 03 Poland, Ard Bits adds what he calls ‘ambient layers’ back home in Rotterdam.
It comes but once a year, WE FORFEIT’s top tracks of 2022. Tough year, seems to be the mantra of life there days. Nevertheless, the lads bury the spike of reality with a selection of nourishing sounds that guarantee to warm away the horrors staring back at you.

Music for Delirious Episodes brings together eleven compositions. Ard Bit is known for his delicate, almost brittle, works. This collection focuses on that same fragility that fascinates Janssen.
