While Strom Noir deals with light, Spheruleus pieces are all about air, thick, a little clammy, redolent of pine needles and forest floor.
A special project marking netlabel Audio Gourmet’s third year of operation that manifested itself serendipitously, after the Slovak and British ambient artists each had submitted material for release containing the word “morning.”
Limitedly available as a green and pleasant double three-inch physical edition, Strom Noir’s “Morning,” a rising, expanding shaft of light and four-and-a-half minute muscle-loosening “Levitation,” are made from acoustic instruments and are more body-conscious than Spheruleus’ three tracks, which are themselves another result of happenstance and literally “recovered memory.” The artist discovered forgotten and unfinished work in his laptop and after an inspiring morning fog walk, produced three adaptations. While Strom Noir deals with light, Spheruleus pieces are all about air, thick, a little clammy, redolent of pine needles and forest floor. His “Endless Pathways Won’t Unfold” absolutely swirls.
Turns out they were really meant for each other.
Morning is available on Audio Gourmet. [Release page]
