Onderwereld takes its name from a former bunker in The Hague, feat. Cosmox, 543ff, Star-kid and Gamma Intel on Cultivated Electronics‘ limited vinyl offshoot. This is a four track EP of some very deep and twisted electro. True to form, dirty bass and ghetto synths span over hard (and fast) electro beats with a twist of acid. These tracks take on their own, more modern form though with relentlessly busy and dense riffs, and morphing percussion. The production on each track is spot-on and will definitely shake the subs on any appropriate system. Many other genres have come and gone and yet electro persists, the techniques and technologies have evolved, and the production has advanced—but this would all be clearly recognizable to anyone in Detroit in the 1990s.
