A two-track teaser from Nik Nowak sets the stage for hopefully more to come on Schematic Music Company—beat mangling and other ambient/mechanical effects are in the queue.
Beat mangling and other ambient/mechanical effects
Two upcoming tracks from the multi-talented sound sculptor Nik Nowak are lined up titled Sound is the Weapon of the Future. Brisk and to the point, waves of bass and beat shuffling abound on the mysterious “Hector’s Call.” Its opening pulse made from ambient industrial debris, it eventually opens into a full throttle melodic shapeshifter that exploits low-end rumbling echoes. “Pulsator,” on the other hand, takes its time with the delivery of encrusted glitch drums. Waffling noises and soundtrack elements are added to gritty analog sounds that surround unusual clicks’n cuts coming to life. It isn’t until the latter half of “Pulsator” that we get to experience the distorted rhythms, beat mangling and other mechanical effects broken into scattered pieces. A two-track teaser that sets the stage for hopefully more to come on Schematic Music Company.
Sound is the Weapon of the Future is available on Schematic September 4, 2020. [Bandcamp]
