μ-Ziq :: Goodbye EP (Planet Mu)

Certain to please old and new fans alike, this feels like an essential μ-Ziq release that might even feel momentarily understated with the surrounding schedule.

Hearkening back to their origins

Mike Paradinas tees off a big 2022 for themselves—with the µ-Ziq alias stepping out from the shadows last year we heard Scurlage, on Analogical Force, as well as the moving Secret Garden, in collaboration with Mrs. Jynx on Planet Mu. Never to give up the ghost on the ever impressive juggling act of projects and being label head, we were also treated to a plethora of Tusken Raider drops too. Suitably warmed up, Paradinas comes into form for a celebratory year ahead. To kick off, we are given this delightful 6-tracker titled Goodbye, hearkening back to their origins.

“Inspired by going back through the archives while he was remastering the Lunatic Harness reissue, ‘Goodbye’ sees Mike revisiting the nineties, taking on jungle and it’s precursor jungle tekno [sic] and upgrading them with the benefit of hindsight and contemporary software.” ~ Planet Mu

Certain to please old and new fans alike, this feels like an essential μ-Ziq release that might even feel momentarily understated with the surrounding schedule. It is wonderful to have Paradinas embrace the forthcoming anniversary with some choice archival selections. Does this title allude to ourselves, (including Paradinas) to revel in the nostalgia for now, before we see them take flight on new projects/styles? Whatever the outcome, at least we can say 2022 is the Year of the Mike!

Next in line from μ-Ziq, we shall be hearing Magic Pony Ride set to release in June, 2022. Planet Mu have teamed up with Iklectik Art Lab to host an album launch party in London on May 28th:
