Remind Me is a record for smoke filled rooms and late night sessions. The Hartlepool resident dishes up deep house like a seasoned professional, generous servings of Winter warming sounds.
[Release page] It can be tricky to stay up to date with releases. Work, food shopping, stamp buying, train journeys and the myriad of the mundane that makes up daily life means that music can easily slip through the memory banks. One record that slipped through my own was Mark Hand on Newcastle’s excellent Signals, a record that dropped just before Christmas, 2012.
Remind Me sees Hand cut his teeth on the vinyl press. “Mess It Up” sees deep moody tones, understated bass and tapered beats consumed in a tranquil ocean. Beats rise to give the piece some extra ballast before the lounge session of “Remind Me” lands. Coming from the US traditions of deep house, the title piece is gentle and comforting piece of Sunday music. That hazy sound runs out with “Never Forget.” A relaxed and laid back closer for an EP with a sonorously supine quality.
