For almost ten years the flood of space disco came, ultimately diluting the sound. Lumeet cuts through this watery suspension, extracting some of the essences of cosmic whilst adding italo and synth notes.

[Release page] The space disco revival not only colonised record collections, it multiplied. True, cosmic disco has been around since the 70’s, but modern take hit saturation point with the deluge of material the likes of Prins Thomas and Lindstrom emitted. Despite this, there are some artists still releasing quality cosmic influenced sounds, Roland Sebastian Faber for example. From Helsinki hails the latest explorer. Lumeet, on his self titled label, débuts with Isadora Mu, an album the artist describes as a “space disco adventure.”
Across eight tracks the Finnish astronaut traverses the sounds of cosmic and italo inspired synth disco. The album opens with the rich analogue reverberations of “Hatchling.” The track has electronica in its veins with thick bands of synthesizer throbbing and pulsing. The neo disco sounds arrive with “Metacharm.” A solid beat courses through the piece with retrospective melodies spiralling. Lumeet echoes with the tones of the disco renaissance, with a similar sound to that of early Crème Organization, Viewlexx, Dissident or Supersoul Recordings. The dancefloor elements of the record are balanced by the synth warmth employed by this débutante, “7011” combining the two to produce an interplanetary treat. Some of the pieces toe the slower lines of electro disco, but not “Hummani.” The track adopts an 80’s europop style melody and Alden Tyrell energy to produce a quirky floorfiller. The disco mood rings follow through to the finale, the measured chords of “The Isadora Codex” leading out Lumeet’s premier outing.
For almost ten years the flood of space disco came, ultimately diluting the sound. Lumeet cuts through this watery suspension, extracting some of the essences of cosmic whilst adding italo and synth notes. Isadora Mu is an accomplished, if not innocent, first step for this Finnish first timer. A summery sound to lead us into the winter months.
Isadora Mu is out now and available here.
